What are the Stampin' Up! ® Watermark Requirements?

I am often asked by my customers what the copyright line should be if they are a Stampin' Up! ® Demonstrator or a Stampin' Up! ® customer.

Over the years, there has been conflicting information.
I was able to contact the "expert" on watermark requirements at Demonstrator Support. This individual said:

we ask that you use the term “Copyright Stampin’ Up!®” below or near the image. We no longer ask for the year to be posted. We require this to be done by demonstrators and customers.

So for customers and demonstrators who upload to oneline galleries, websites and blogs, take note of the requirements. You no longer need to have the year!

How Do I Add My Watermark To A Photo?

Once you have purchased and downloaded your watermark, you can now easily watermark your photographs!

Open your photo editing software (such as Adobe or GIMP/Live Quartz {mac})
Open the photograph (.jpg file) you wish to watermark
Edit your photograph (crop, etc.)
Open your watermark (.png file)
Using the Move tool, drag and drop the watemark (png) to your photograph (jpg)
Save your watermarked photograph as a JPG file
Upload your image to the web!

Troubleshooting:

Are you getting a box around your "transparent" png when you attempt to use your watermark in PhotoShop Elements?
When you open the PS Elements, is the Auto Select Layer option selected (upper left-hand corner of window)? Try unchecking that box and your problem should be solved!

For KODAK Picture It! Users:

Open watermark with Picture IT
In Picture IT click on "Open another picture..."

Both watermark and card will display in the "tray" at the bottom of the screen.

Click on your card
Click and drag watermark over card in the display window

your watermark should be located over your card in the display window.

Move watermark into position.
Hold shift key down while clicking on both images (either in display window or "stack" at the right side of screen).
Group images together
Save as JPEG
Upload your newly watermarked card to your gallery or blog!

What is a watermark?

A watermark is an image which you place over the top of your photograph to protect your image. Watermarks can consist of fonts, graphics or a mixture of both. The background of your watermark is transparent. The fonts and graphics can be transparent or any color. I can match Stampin' Up! © colors for your watermark.

Most watermarks for stampers consist of your name and some copyright information, along with your blog or website information. Wording is all personal preference.

Sample watermarks are emailed to you in JPG format on a colored background so you can easily view your sample. Final documents for watermarks come in .png format and should be saved to a file on your computer for easy access. I suggest you create a file in your documents folder called My Watermarks. At FreckledANDFun designs, you get watermarks in bundles. You can choose two or more colors or two or more designs, depending on your preference or need.

Once you have received your final watermark (png version), save it to your computer.

You will need photo editing software to utilize your watermark.

There is a wide range of photo editing software available! It ranges from expensive Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite to freeware called GIMP. There is some middle ground, such as Adobe Photoshop Elements, Kodak Picture It and Ulead Photo Impact to name a few. There is one for every budget. Choose what is right for you!
